Basic Photography

This course assumes that you have no knowledge about the technical aspects of photography. This course is intended to leave participants with a solid grounding in all aspects that govern the photographic process. It will be technical but the pace will be adjusted to suit the class. The following topics will be covered.

Introduction to curves
Depth of field (what the ƒ numbers do)
Exposure (correlation between ISO, shutter speed and ƒ stops)
Focal length its distortion & how it can aid composition
Colour Theory (Colour temperature, filtration and introduction to colour management)
File format (jpeg or RAW)
Flash Photography (fill flash, flash as single source)
Lighting (intensity, quality, ratios, inverse square law, specular highlights and the principals behind studio lighting)
