“Our historic memory is vanishing,” warns Dean Newitt. “If we don’t recognise this problem and rectify it, our time will not become part of the recorded past.” Computers make storing family photographs more convenient than ever, but those captured memories can vanish with a few mouse clicks—or even if you’ve done everything right—for no apparent reason at all.
